The winner of this award will enjoy an exclusive one-day experience with Aldi’s National Buying Department, offering a unique behind-the-scenes look at how one of the UK and Ireland’s fastest-growing retailers operates. You’ll spend the day with teams across produce, branding, sustainability, and plastics & packaging, discovering how each area works together to shape Aldi’s product range and drive its continued success. It’s an invaluable opportunity to gain real industry insight, learn from expert buyers, and see first-hand what it takes to deliver quality and value at scale.

What makes an award winner?

Ambitious, and determined students are what we are looking for. We’d like to attract students who are working towards a career in food business. They will hold the drive and ambition to generate innovative strategies, directly contributing to Aldi’s product lifecycle. They will have direct involvement in buying, marketing, communications, new product development and competitor analysis, so they will need to be proactive and take initiative.

We’re keen to meet those who love working with people in a fast-paced, challenging but highly rewarding environment.

We’re one of the world's most successful retailers, and one of the most awarded retailers at the Irish Quality Food Awards, the Great Taste Awards and the Blas na hÉireann awards. Receive an email inviting you to complete three assessments designed exclusively by our partner SHL.

Your details & online assessments must be submitted and completed by 2nd of February 2026.

If you are successful in getting through to the next stage, you will hear from us by 18th of February 2026.

Assessment centre

The top 10/15 shortlisted candidates will be reviewed by Aldi.

The process to determine the award winner may involve a virtual or face-to-face interview.

This will be confirmed by the sponsor at a later date.

Grand final

The final shortlist of ten students will be invited to the awards ceremony on the 1st of April 2026, at the Aviva Stadium where the award winners will be announced.
